The building that houses Indian restaurant Gymkhana on its ground floor caught fire on Thursday afternoon. Smoke filled London's Albemarle Street as firefighters from from Soho, Lambeth, Kensington, Euston, Paddington, Chelsea and Dowgate tried to tackle the flames at around 4pm.
It has been confirmed that the restaurant has suffered damages because of the fire, but all staff and diners are safe. The restaurant has had to close temporarily due to the fire.
A statement on Gymkhana’s website said: "The fire was quickly attended to by the emergency services and has now been extinguished. At this stage, the cause of the fire is not yet known however we would like to reassure the public that all staff and diners are safe."
Images and videos captured on social media show smoke billowing out of the burning building.
