Just when we thought London’s obsession with brunch couldn’t get any more intense, along comes a festival dedicated to the mealtime.
Back for a second year, London Brunch Fest will be taking over The Truman Brewery in Shoreditch for the weekend of 31 August to 1 September. The festival will see some of London’s best brunch restaurants and street food outfits all converge under one roof, where brunchers will be able to get as much avocado on toast and eggs any style as their stomachs can handle.
There are 10 headlining brunch purveyors making an appearance, with each of them exclusively designing a dish just for the festival, which will be served alongside their regular menus. At Brunch Fest, you can expect to see the likes of Avo Bar (London’s first avocado-only restaurant), bacon butty masters Le Swine and popular brunch spot Brother Marcus.
While there, you can also swing by Sweet Street, which is a new addition to this year’s festivities. Found in the festival’s marketplace, which showcases a variety of producers, Sweet Street is an entire room dedicated to the sweet side of brunch. That means you’ll be able to purchase slices of pie from A Pie Party, edible raw cookie dough from Naked Dough, and cakes, brownies and doughnuts from London-based bakery, Butter Believe It.
As the old saying goes, brunch without booze is just a sad, late breakfast. So you won’t be surprised to know that Brunch Fest will be serving up cocktails from a dedicated Bloody Mary bar. There will also be two Prosecco bars, as well as speciality coffee from the likes of Origin Coffee and Urban Baristas.
It’s not all about eating and drinking though, as there is also a packed schedule of talks, panel discussions, live demonstrations and interactive workshops. Plus resident DJs will also be on the decks non-stop, if you’re the kind of person who likes their brunch with a side of party.
London Brunch Fest takes place on 31 August to 1 September. Tickets are priced from £12.50 and VIB (Very Important Bruncher) passes are also available.
