You heard right - supermarket giant Aldi is on the hunt for an ‘Official Beer Taster’ to join the team; the lucky candidate will be required to review a selection of Aldi’s upcoming beers, lagers and ciders, before relaying their thoughts and opinions back to Aldi bosses.
The idea is that the Official Beer Taster will help Aldi improve on its upcoming beer selection. ‘Your feedback will be crucial in helping us decide on products that will feature in our next range,’ the job advert reads.
The job itself is pretty straight-forward - if you’re chosen, Aldi will send you a selection of ten beers to try out; all you have to do is write a little review for each one and rate them out of five, before sending your thoughts back to Aldi.
Naturally, the successful candidate will be expected to have plenty of enthusiasm, as well as a passion for good beer! If you’re interested in applying, all you have to do is submit an application via email, including your full name, proof of age (with a copy of passport or driving licence), your Instagram and/or Twitter handles, and crucially, a 150-word explanation of why you think you should be Aldi’s Official Beer Taster, as well as what your favourite beer is and why.
The new range of beers is due to launch on 15 September, so wannabe beer tasters should get their applications in by August 29th to be in with a shot of this dream job.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: ‘We’re looking for someone with passion and excitement when it comes to craft ale, but who can honestly review our range and provide suggestions as to how we might improve it for next year.
