For one day only, an air fryer restaurant will be coming to London, where the food has been cooked entirely by refurbished air fryers from eBay.
The e-commerce giant eBay has paired up with ‘Air Fryer King’ Nathan Anthony to open the new restaurant in Shoreditch this September.
The event is due to take place on Wednesday 27 September, but customers will have to sign up for a free ticket in advance to get a chance to try the specially curated menu of small plates.
Nathan will explain each course to diners, whilst also sharing tips on how they can be recreated at home. In total, there will be 12 small plates - three starters, four mains, three desserts - which will be served over a two hour period.
On the menu, there will be a variety of dishes that put the air fryer to good use, including crispy salt and pepper squid, aglio e olio chicken wings, nduja arancini, creme egg croissant balls, and some vegetarian and vegan options like miso glazed aubergine.
Along with celebrating the energy efficient kitchen gadget, the team also looks to showcase the value and quality of refurbished tech.
The idea was born after a survey showed that 39% of Brits aren’t sure how they will be able to combat the energy prices this winter as bills increase, with nearly half looking for new alternatives to cook more efficiently.
In return, the restaurant hopes to help diners learn how to cut costs and save energy through refurbished air fryers and kitchen appliances, as well as educating what a positive impact it can have on the planet.
Chef and author, Nathan Anthony, said: 'Having started as a home cook in lockdown, opening a real-world pop-up restaurant to showcase a tangible way consumers can save costs this winter is a dream come true! These speedy counter-top machines can whip up a dish in record time with lower energy use and costs - and despite the name, they’re useful for far more than frying!'
Tickets go on sale on 20 September at 7pm.
