You'll either find this oddball Japanese café wonderfully cute or maddeningly twee. Named after the Japanese word for cat, Nécco looks a bit like a Japanese schoolgirl's pencil case – effigies of kittens, beach balls, love hearts & flowers are all part of the decor, while the chairs & menus come in various shades of pink. At lunchtime, sushi & bento boxes are its stock in trade, while the super-cheap evening menu (oddly titled 'night indulgence') focuses on 'Japanese-style tapas' as well as the standards. Salmon teriyaki, pork gyoza & takoyaki-fried octopus balls feature alongside curries, tempura & donburi, with a handy selection of saké, Japanese beers & wines to wash it all down. If you have a sweet tooth, make for the deli counter where all kinds of fusion treats are on display.
