Husband and wife team Charlotte and Sam Miller, having enjoyed years of success with their South Kensington cafe/bistro, are opening a second location in the world-famous National Gallery. The original South Ken site has become a staple for museum-goers thanks to its casual vibe and fresh seasonal dishes, so it seems natural to open a second location inside a gallery.
The National Gallery is one of the greatest art galleries in the world. Visitors can enjoy the likes of Bellini, Cézanne, Degas, Leonardo, Monet, Raphael, Rembrandt, Renoir, Rubens, Titian, Turner, Van Dyck, Van Gogh and Velázquez for free before checking out Muriel's Kitchen. The venue itself is really split into three: an on-the-go espresso bar, a relaxed café and a standalone restaurant that will welcome non-gallery visitors too, with a spacious atmosphere to suit a variety of occasions.
The restaurant's a la carte menu will showcase the finest British produce, offering breakfast, dinner and everything in between, including afternoon tea and cocktails. There is also a private dining room. Highlights from the South Kensington branch include Clarence Court eggs royale, crusted crispy aubergine with miso mayo and Asian slaw, cauliflower frittata with caramelised onion and feta, and a pecan tart or pavlova tart with honey, cream and fruit to finish.
The focus of the Muriel's Kitchen brand has always been fresh, seasonal produce with plenty of options for vegetarians. The two branches both offer a calm environment tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city but still situated at its centre. Julie Molloy, Managing Director of the National Gallery Company said, 'We are delighted to welcome Muriel’s Kitchen to the National Gallery. Charlotte and Sam have really impressed us with their passion and commitment to delivering a high-quality guest experience with their attention to great food and exemplary service.'
