Colourful fabrics, attractive carved woods & plenty of greenery create serene surroundings at Muang Thai – helped by the obliging staff. The kitchen takes cooking seriously, producing punchy dishes with clear-cut flavours. Treat yourself to fishcakes heady with red curry paste, or a zippy beef salad with red onion, chilli & lemongrass to start, before moving on to all manner of stir-fries, curries & noodle dishes. The pad thai could challenge any found in downtown Bangkok, while sea bass steamed with ginger, sweet plum & soya sauce is a more delicate creation with just as much flavour. Singha & Chang are appropriate Thai beers to drink, & the wine list provides mainly New World bottles that do a good job of standing up to the spice.
