OPENS SPRING 2020
When an Instagram personality opens a restaurant, there is always a little trepidation around whether or not it will be any good. When it comes to Miguel Barclay though, who boasts 300k Instagram followers and counting, we are expecting big things.
Barclay is a chef, television presenter and author who first gained prominence for his budget-friendly ‘one pound meal’ initiative. He has since gone on to amass a cult following and release five successful cookbooks. The next step in Barclay’s plan for world domination is opening his debut restaurant, found at the Buck Street Market development in Camden.
Miguel’s Pizza specialises in New York-style pizza by the slice, which is made fresh daily on site and is cooked inside of a stone baked oven. While Miguel’s Pizza is affordable, it is not quite as cheap as the dollar pizza slices you can find over in the states. Instead, a slice here will set you back £2.80, with options to choose from including all of the classic toppings and a few less conventional offerings.
Keep an eye out for regular specials too, as well as limited-edition collaborations between Miguel’s Pizza and other local street food vendors, designed to showcase the talents of local restaurants and vendors in the Camden area. Of course, you can also expect the restaurant to have a pretty slick social media presence, complete with behind the scenes videos showing you exactly how everything works, should you fancy trying your hand at making pizza indoors.
Barclay is not the only rising star to set up shop inside Buck Street Market, as Miguel’s Pizza is also a neighbour to Wildflower, the first restaurant from young Irish chef Adrian Martin. That restaurant hopes to be the first London restaurant to serve a high-end tasting menu inside of a shipping container.
