Metro remains the feeding & watering hole of choice for many of the business crowd packing out Birmingham’s commercial quarter. The long, streamlined bar is wall to wall suits after work &
the smart, contemporary restaurant with its airy atrium is usually busy too. The bustling atmosphere quietens down as the evening goes on so catch Metro early if you want to feel part of the buzz.
It’s certainly worth a visit for the food. There’s simple, straight-off-the-grill steaks & hunky ciabatta sandwiches or more imaginative, modern global fare to choose from. Start, perhaps, with
chicken & duck terrine with fig compote & toasted brioche or a crispy duck salad & follow it up with Cornish crab with chips & green salad or linguini threaded with king prawns,
lime & coriander. Puds such as brownie with mint choc chip ice cream or plum & apple cobbler follow a well-trodden comfort route.
