In 2004 Mestizo was born out of pure passion. The team behind this restaurant were proud to bear the responsibility of introducing Londoners to the best of Mexican cuisine, and have devoted the past decade to sharing its richness with its customers. The restaurant traces its roots back to 1974, when Roberto Alvarado first unveiled his culinary vision in Mexico. With over two decades in Europe, Mestizo has become synonymous with Mexican flavours and traditions. Remaining a family run restaurant, Carlos, Roberto’s son, has spearheaded our Chelsea establishment, bringing with him a contemporary twist while honouring the Mexican heritage and hospitality.
On the menu there are plenty of gluten free, vegan, dairy free, and nut free options. The menu features authentic favourites, from delicious Mexican tapas antojitos to a fun taco tray. The margarita bar has a range of tequila based favourites, with flavours like hibiscus, lavender, mole and lychee, so you can make a true one of a kind drinking experience for you and your gang.
The Mexican tapas has plenty of delicious dishes to share, ranging from the fresh jalapeño chiles stuffed with cream cheese, breaded, deep fried and served with a coriander sauce and corn masa filled with your choice of pork and morita chile, vegan protein and morita chile or chicken pibil wrapped in a banana leaf and steamed to perfection, to corn tortillas filled with spiced flaked fish, then deep fried until golden and accompanied with a chipotle and mayonnaise sauce and fried breaded cheese sticks in a pool of tomatillo sauce topped with coriander, onion and sesame seeds served with flour tortillas.
For dessert, enjoy the thin crepes topped with a caramel sauce, chopped walnuts and vanilla ice cream, or the baked cream cheese and coconut cheesecake in a pool of mango sauce.
