From a restaurant that started its life on the King's Road in an old Antiques shop, Megan’s has transformed into one of London’s best loved, dog friendly cafes. Continuously expanding outside of the capital, Welwyn Garden City seems a logical move for such a wholesome brand. With a food menu that centres loosely around Mediterranean cuisine, this is a one stop shop for anything from brunch through to a substantial dinner or drinks and small plates with friends.
Whilst the menu doesn’t tend to vary from venue to venue, it does mean a consistent level of satisfaction throughout any of the outlets. For those that like a tipple with their toast, Megan’s is renowned for its bottomless brunches which sees an unlimited supply of Prosecco provided for 90 minutes at £25pp in addition to the brunch or lunch menu. If you’re out later in the day, executive chef Sercan Ugurlu draws on his Turkish roots to create an array of dishes like a chilli chicken shakshouka kebab, a flavoursome tabbouleh, and the undeniably moreish halloumi fries with honey. Desserts come in a familiar format of cookies, or ice cream sundaes, but with a sort of Middle Eastern flare that sees each dish adorned with either pistachios or rose petals, or sometimes both.
For drinks, Megan’s has a sizeable list of everything from a pink sparkling wine to elderflower gin fizz and even a non-alcoholic beer. For those early starts there are plenty of freshly made smoothies and coffee, including a ‘Spanish latte’ that’s made with condensed milk. No stranger to a good party, Megan’s is available for any event you have planned whether it be an intimate birthday get together,or even to celebrate your wedding. As a group that has nailed the fairy light aesthetic, it becomes the perfect backdrop to make any occasion magical.
