Meat and liquor are this modern burger restaurant’s raison d'être so if you’re looking a diet-busting meal, this is the place for you. Almost all of this 21st-Century burger chain’s outfits are in London, but its sole Northern branch has been keeping customers reaching for the antacids since 2014 and shows no signs of slowing down.
Located behind Victoria’s Secret in the Trinity Centre, the two-floor eatery includes Leeds’ first retro video gaming space, a ground floor bar and outdoor space. It’s also super-welcoming to kids, dogs, vegetarians and vegans (yes, really) and has plenty of activities such as darts, pool and table football to help work off a hundredth of the calories you’ve ingested.
In spite of catering to a northern crowd, you’ll find all the usual burgers on offer here, so whether you’re in the mood for a classic cheeseburger made up of two beef patties, cheese, red onions, pickles, lettuce, ketchup and mustard, or a rather more elaborate creation such as the Dead Hippie burger, named after the tangy sweet and sour sauce that smothers it, you’re sure to leave feeling full.
There’s more to MEATliquor than burgers though – much more. There’s chicken in various different forms, hotdogs, salads, sides, sauces and seven different types of fries. If you’re keen to live up to the liquor part of the deal, there are extreme cocktails such as the ‘Game Over’ made up of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, triple sec, Pisang Ambon and absinthe (which is so strong it’s limited to two per diner) plus a number of classic cocktails, craft beers, wine and hard ‘shakes. For those on the wagon, there are decadent milkshakes, ice-cream floats and softs.
The lunch deal, which includes a burger, fries and a soda and is available on weekdays, is an absolute steal at just £10.
