They may not be particularly innovative or groundbreaking, but Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse restaurants are utterly reliable. This new branch is bound to prove a draw in Islington – for the residents of the host Hilton hotel, as well as for locals. As you’d expect, steak is what to order: aged for 28 days and grilled to perfection, served with excellent triple-cooked chips as well as onion rings and grilled tomato. If you’re in a retro mood, though, you couldn’t be in better hands; chicken Kiev has been a forte of White’s for years. Start with a pretty beetroot and goats’ cheese salad, or rillettes of duck, and finish with Cambridge burnt cream.
