Proudly sat on Dalston's main drag, Mangal II has established quite the reputation as one of London's best spots to experience Turkish cuisine. The younger sister to Mangal I, and just few roads over, this second location offers a more elevated, sophisticated take on the much-loved menu. The venue is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room to enjoy a long, relaxing evening of delicious food.
Run by the sons of Mangal I owner, Ferhat and Sertac Dirik have maintained the authenticity and delicious flavours that earned their father such appraisal, while updating the menu and surroundings to situate themselves as one of the most desirable reservations in London. By working alongside local, UK-based suppliers, Mangal II is able to ensure all their dishes meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
The restaurant offers both an a la carte menu, and a set menu for larger groups. Start with their sourdough pide, their spin on the Turkish flatbread, and the Cull Yaw kofte served with grilled apple. While you may recognise some of the dishes origins, you can guarantee they will be served in ways you have never seen before. Like their hummus, which is smoked and served with pickles and Isot sesame crackers, or their version of a borek, accompanied by a vibrant green watercress sauce.
For mains, you can expect a small selection of grilled options, with offerings for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Their mushroom manti are juicy dumplings served with a garlic yoghurt sauce and wild mushrooms, and the mackerel is grilled whole and doused in a luxurious bone butter.
The set menu is the ideal choice for larger groups and will leave the table covered in delicious plates for you all to share.
