Mr LoBo, a Peruvian restaurant and cocktail bar, brings a taste of Latin America to the heart of Angel in North London. The menu boasts a variety of dishes which shine a light on a cuisine which is rich in flavour and history.
The restaurant is located on Upper Street. It’s decorated with colourful Peruvian artwork, a variety of green plants and a huge skylight, which creates a light and bright atmosphere where you can sample classic dishes such as ceviche or lomo saltado.
The menu itself is organised into three sections - from the land, from the sea and from the garden - meaning there is something for everyone.
Meat lovers can taste everything from delicious chicharron pork belly or chicken pollada to traditional causas, made of layers of mashed potato and chicken, prawns or vegetables. Fish fiends could choose from octopus or salmon tiradito, Peru’s version of sashimi, mussels chalaca or pescado frito with sauteed vegetables.
There are also a variety of delicious, vegetarian dishes. Whether you fancy Peruvian cheesy chips known as cassava fries with a huancaina sauce, vegetable skewers or a vegan version of saltado, there’s plenty of choice.
There are also some tasty side dishes to choose from, be it Peruvian corn or rosemary and garlic roast potatoes, and if you’ve got room for dessert, you could go for a passion fruit cremeux or small cookies known as chicha morada alfajores.
If you’re not in the mood to eat, Mr LoBo’s mixologist has created an exciting cocktail menu. From classic Peruvian drinks such as a Pisco Sour to a Picante or an Incanto, and most intriguingly a Mr LoBo (smoked), there are a plethora of delicious drinks waiting to be tried. There is also a variety of white wine, red wine, rosé and sparkling wine to try, as well as lagers and cider.
