Located on the Uxbridge Road in the centre of Hanwell, this unfussy Italian eatery specialises in traditional Neapolitan pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven, along with a selection of Italian dishes, desserts and wines. This quaint and cosy restaurant offers a little slice of Italy in the west London neighbourhood, boasting chalk board menus, exposed brickwork, Italian paraphernalia on the walls and, of course, its hero wood-fired pizza oven located to the rear of the space.
The restaurant opens at midday, making it a popular spot for a speedy lunch, afternoon pick-me-up (for a slice of cake and a coffee) or an affordable and relaxed dinner. The menu is also available to takeaway for those looking to enjoy its authentic pizzas from the comfort of home.
The menu features a range of starters, light mains, sandwiches and pizzas. Classic Italian dishes include melanzane parmigiana, bruschetta, tuna salad, beef carpaccio and a selection of antipasto. The most popular order though, is its pizzas, with a variety of classic and unique toppings available. Examples include Vittorio De Sica, which features a homemade artichoke cream base, speck, smoked mozzarella, artichoke flowers and parmesan shavings, while the Don Giovanni features smoked mozzarella, gorgonzola, mushrooms, walnuts, sundried tomatoes and parmesan.
There is a selection of sweet dishes too, including homemade tiramisu, chocolate caprese cake and raspberry cheesecake – all of which pair well with an espresso, we’re sure.
A concise wine list is available for those looking to eat in, alongside a selection of soft drinks. Do note that there is a vegan pizza menu which boasts nine tasty options (not just a marinara!). Look out for the Eduardo De Filippo made with a vegan pesto base, vegan mozzarella, grilled aubergines, courgettes, pine nuts, sundried tomatoes and basil.
