Leigh-On-Sea, but perhaps better known as just Leigh, is a beautiful town in the county of Essex. Leigh has been a fishing village for hundreds of years, and it's said that this very place is where the famous ship, The Mayflower, was built before it set sail for North America in the 17th century. Leigh has plenty of charm to it, and is similar to it's neighbouring and perhaps more popular town of Southend-On-Sea. In Leigh, you'll find plenty of craft shops and cosy pubs, fish and chip shops and art galleries. If you're looking for somewhere to soak in the sun and get some fresh, salty sea air, this could be the place. If you enjoy a wander around, take a look at the photographs at Leigh Heritage Centre or stroll around the nature reserve.
