The words Michelin and kebab don’t get thrown around in the same sentence much, but gourmet kebab house Le Bab are here to change that. Headed up by co-founders Stephen Tozer and Ed Brunet, and with ex-Michelin chef Manu Canales at the head of the kitchen, it’s got a pretty powerful driving force guiding the ship. In fact, since it opened its original site in Soho back in 2015, Le Bab has since opened another five restaurants in London, with this site at Old Spitalfields Market coming in at number six.
Joining the ‘The Kitchens’ at Old Spitalfields Market, Le Bab has taken over the former site of Bvrger, where it serves a menu packed with plenty of its famous gourmet kebabs and mezze dishes.
Menu highlights include its chicken shish kebab topped with grilled free-range chicken, pickled red cabbage, herb yoghurt, seasonal salsa, crispy chicken skin, sweet chilli sauce and coriander. Look out for its pork ribeye kebab topped with chilli jus and herb labneh, as well as a vegan roast aubergine option featuring house relish, peanut pesto, vegan mayo, crispy onions and a foragers mix.
Hefty side dishes meanwhile include loaded pork ribeye fries with pork jus, chilli sauce, homemade garlic mayo, relish and coriander, as well as hummus with peanut curry sauce and flatbreads.
A short selection of beers, lagers and soft drinks is also available, with guests able to relax at bench seating within the market and outside the Le Bab unit. The menu is also available to order and collect via the website.
The Le Bab group now includes sites in Soho (Kingly Court), Covent Garden, Brixton, Old Street, and Kebab Queen – a fine dining 10-seat counter restaurant in Covent Garden.
