This all-day Italian is housed in the Pelham Hotel, which is well placed for Harrods and the boutiques of Brompton Cross, making it ideal for a post-shopping pit stop. The country-home-meets-townhouse interiors include brown leather chairs, vintage books lining the walls and art deco paintings dotted across the room. Headed up by Alfredo Rosso, La Trattoria sees his high standards continue through at this London site, following in the footsteps of his award winning restaurants in Italy and Dubai.
The menu sees Italian classics given an innovative twist, showcasing both Mediterranean flavours and the teams impressive skills. Guests are welcomed for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and each time of day offers it’s own unique feel, from calm and casual in the morning to intimate and date night vibes in the evening. The menu features a mixture of small plates, pizza, pasta and larger mains, each perfect for either sharing between friends, or working through yourself. The lunch set menu offers pasta and a dessert for £16, and you can expect dishes like Bucatini alla Amatriciana - made using tomato sauce, pork cheek and Pecorino - and sorbet for dessert.
For the evening, the a la carte menu offers a little more variety, whilst still using all of the traditional Italian ingredients and flavours. You can expect to find starters like pan fried scallops with Jerusalem artichoke chips or an octopus salad, followed by a selection of pizzas and pastas. Think handmade orecchiette with broccoli, fresh chilli and Pecorino or a classic carbonara with guanciale. Then mains has a choice of meat and seafood options such as pan fried sea bass with caponata.
Classic Italian desserts include tiramisu and panna cotta, while the wine list covers both Italy and the rest of Europe, as well as including some top-drawer Champagnes.
