It's hard to come up with a new concept in London, but embracing the vibe of LA's Koreatown just for the night, atop buzzy Kingly Court in the heart of Soho? That's one that hasn't been done before. Korean Dinner Party comes from foodie duo Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng who are known already for their fantastic work on TATA Eatery and TÓU, and here they bring together East-meets-West influences for a hipster feel and banging menu.
Think vibrant flavours from Korea, Mexico, the US and Japan, mixed with craft cake, kitschy cocktails and Korean hip hop, for a totally unique experience, especially for us Brits. The space is inspired by metropolitan restaurants in Seoul, featuring an industrial aesthetic with distressed concrete walls, punchy neon lights and minimalist seating. The large, open-plan dining room is ideal for bringing together large groups, as well as date for two. There are plenty of options across the menus which span all day, lunch, a tasting menu and fun events like bottomless brunch and taco nights.
The all day menu is all about smaller bites which can be shared with the table, like corn dogs, kimchi pancakes and bacon mochis which, if you're unfamiliar, are caramelised bacon wrapped rice cakes with gochujang caramel and spring onions. Main dishes take street food influences, for example, fried chicken nuggets with garlic cream, parmesan and tteokbokki rice cakes, alongside Korean tacos filled with the likes of pork neck, ssamjang, chilli relish and Asian slaw. There's also plenty of sides like crinkle cut fries with chilli salt and burger sauce, as well as iceberg wedges with crispy pancetta and avocado.
If you're looking for great value, the bottomless brunch offers two courses and a side, alongside 90 minutes of bottomless prosecco with JINRO Soju, and is super fun for a weekend with friends.
