Jinseon Korean BBQ is a Korean barbecue restaurant in central Coventry, just a short walk from the city centre and Coventry Cathedral. As well as barbecue meats, Jinseon also serves a range of classic Korean dishes as well as soju and soju cocktails.
The restaurant itself has a industrial chic vibe thanks to hard stone floor, metal wire cages around the dining room, and moody pendant lights which hang from the ceiling. A concrete-effect bar sits on one side of the room, with the rest of the space left for dining tables and chairs. Each table has a tabletop grill built into the centre, so guests can barbecue their choice of meat, seafood and vegetable.
There are a variety of barbecue platters available, but the chef's selection makes things easy if you don't want the hassle of making decisions. Included in that section are classics like spicy beef bulgogi, pork belly and barbecue shoulder, or you can get a signature platter that has a bit of everything. There are also cumin lamb, ox tongue, tiger prawns and sliced scallops.
However, barbecue isn't the only thing that Jinseon does, despite the name. If you're craving some classic Korean cooking, it's probably on the menu - there's Korean fried chicken in various guises, small plates like toppoki and mandu, soups, bibimbaps, fried rice dishes and more. You can even get stuck into cheesy ramen noodles or gochujang mozzarella fries. Desserts include various flavours of soft serve ice cream and croffles (a cross between a croissant and a waffle).
On the drinks front, Jinseon serves hot drinks and teas during the day, and there's a compact wine list in the evening alongside beers, ice cream floats and soft drinks. There are also soju cocktails and you can buy makkoli rice wine by the bottle.
