Jajoo, Hale, is an Indian street food restaurant and craft gin bar serving authentic Indian cuisine inspired by simple regional dishes. The restaurant is owned by Dr Jajoo, who has created Jajoo to share an authentic Indian dining experience which is healthy, flavourful and largely plant based.
The interior is bright, light and inviting with a bar area and wooden seating.
There is a lunch menu and a main menu. The main menu is divided into sections including street eats, roadside curries and bread, rice and sides. Street eats includes dishes such as Mumbai Samosa Chaat – smashed veggie samosas topped with chickpeas, pomegranate spiced yoghurt and mint, and Tandori Aloo which is a potato, peppers and onion dish served with masala spices cooked in the tandoor.
Roadside curries include the Delhi Butter Chicken, a tandoori spiced chicken leg served in a rich sweet, spiced tomato, ginger and butter sauce, and a Chicken Chettinad, one of Southern India’s most popular curries made with turmeric, masala spices, coconut and garlic.
Meat free dishes include Shahi Paneer Curry served with saffron, cardamon and aromatic spices, and Kadai Tofu cooked with green peppers, tomato and roasted garlic.
You will also find a selection of tuk tuk tacos on the menu, spicy taco shells served with spicy salad, mango salsa and mint yoghurt, and a selection of Calcutta Kathi rolls, skewer roasted kebabs served with Paratha bread and Indian chips.
There is also a dessert menu serving favourites such as Gulab Jamun, as well as a coconut and mango ice cream bomb, and a pistachio kulfi, traditional Indian ice cream.
As expected you will find a large and varied gin menu which features India’s first craft gin, and a small batch gin which is produced at the Third Eye Distillery in Goa.
There is also a good wine selection, which can be served by the glass or bottle. There is also a small menu of cocktails, plus lassis, coffee, and tea.
