Italiana Fifty Five in Manchester is a restaurant that serves authentic Italian food in the heart of the city centre. Inside, the restaurant is decorated to a modern standard, with touches of a rustic Italian feel about it — including the walls panelled in dark oak wood featuring large mirrors throughout. Upholstered mustard furnishings are scattered throughout the restaurant, with plush benches and warm, golden lighting. Not only is this restaurant beautiful to look at, but it serves delicious food. It happens to be the only place in Manchester where you can have your pasta dish flambéed at your table in a giant cheese wheel.
Start off with some delicious dishes to share amongst the table. From beef ribs marinated in a glazed barbecue sauce to the sharing platter of seafood – deep fried lightly battered king prawns, calamari fritti, white bait and baby octopus with a homemade tartare sauce. As for your starters, you can choose from the melazane parmigiana which is an oven baked dish made up from aubergine, scamorza, tomato, basil and parmesan cheese, along with beef meatballs that are topped in a medium spiced tomato sauce with toasted bread.
Pasta and risotto, often the star of the show in Italian restaurants, are delicious here. Choose from the tagliatelle reggiano which is the famous pasta with cream and sage, flambéed with cognac in its parmesan cheese and truffle oil right in front of you. Other pasta dishes include the dish topped with salmon, dill and pink peppercorns, along with classics like a spaghetti carbonara, ravioli di spinaci and penne arrabbiata. If you would like a gluten free option, then just talk to the team, a lot of the dishes can be served this way upon request.
