Hull is a port city in East Yorkshire where the River Hull meets the Humber Estuary. Hull is full of much rich history, as this is the very city that sparked the English Civil War, and is also the birthplace of slavery abolitionist, William Wilberforce. It won't come as any surprise, with Wilberforce having hailed from Hull, but the city has been a centre of free thinking throughout time. This is the place where Mary Wollstonecraft, the women's right advocate from the 1700s, was born and nurtured many of her pioneering ideas. There's plenty of maritime history to enjoy too, along with a modern day eclectic cultural scene, which includes much nightlife, busy pubs, bars, restaurants, and plenty of great shops to peruse. If you like to go sightseeing, make sure to visit the iconic Humber Bridge.
