Auction House's home is in Louth, a charming Georgian market town in rural Lincolnshire, serving up globally-inspired fine-dining in a relaxed environment. Once hailed a ‘food mecca’ by the Hairy Bikers, Auction House is one of a wealth of spots which Louth owes its foodie-hotspot status to. At Auction House’s helm is husband and wife duo Gareth and Lucy Bartram. Gareth brings his expertise from six years leading the kitchen at Winteringham Fields, Lincolnshire’s only Michelin-starred restaurant.
Preserving many of the original features present when the owners took over Auction House, its interiors have kept the wooden wall panellings and ceiling features in place from previous ownership. Auction House’s interiors contribute to the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, while still providing a fine-dining experience and culinary hub to this Lincolnshire town.
Auction House’s menu encourages flexible dining, with a mix of small and large plates. A snack selection also kicks things off with a bang, showcasing the global-influence running throughout the menu. A choice of tempura kimchi with allium emulsion, rosemary focaccia with whipped beef fat, and pork tacos with a lemon and herb emulsion showcase Bartram’s talent for ultra-refined, laid-back food.
Small plates continue the fun with a selection of light, playful dishes like a beef cheek sando, crispy fried chicken thighs with sunflower satay sauce, and salmon crudo with ponzu cucumber and furikake. Larger plates dole out some hard-hitting flavours with roast rump lamb with salsa verde, pan-seared cod with bouillabaisse, and BBQ dry-aged beef with a wow-wow sauce, which represents, as the name suggests, the wow-factor this menu is sure to bring. Desserts offer a difficult choice between chocolate mousse with hazelnut and passion fruit, or grilled peaches with creme fraiche and Pedro Ximenez sherry.
There’s also a six-dish set menu on offer for guests to experience the full range of Bartram’s cooking talent.
