Hampstead is a residential community in London. It's a popular choice with many artists, musicians, actors, academics, and media figures, as it's home to Hampstead Heath, one of the greenest and most peaceful spaces in London. The Heath has its own meadows, woodland, and swimming ponds, and it has gorgeous views of the city from Parliament Hill. Although some of the housing in Hampstead Heath is the most expensive in the city, you can always visit for a day and spend time shopping in the many boutiques, visiting cafes, restaurants, and bars, and enjoy a welcome break from the rush of the city. A fun fact about Hampstead is that its underground has the deepest lift shaft at 181 feet deep. Just like Covent Garden, this underground station features a spiral emergency staircase – it's necessary when the lift is that deep under the ground!
