Part of the new wave of crusading London microbreweries, Camden Town has opened a wee bar at its nerve centre next to Kentish Town West station. Take a tour of the brewery and see how their best-selling Camden Hells lager is made, before sampling a fresh pint in an agreeably cobbled-together space whose beer spouts protrude directly from a white-tiled wall. Choose from around 10 home-brewed tipples or from a selection of appetising guests: Camden’s own wheat beer and complex, bitter-chocolaty Ink Stout are top shouts, but their brand-new offer, Black Friday (a ‘stained’ pilsner) also sounds intriguing. The bar is currently open from 4pm on Fridays only, but should be running a five-day operation in time for the Olympics. Street food is available, and the cult Big Apple hot-dog wagon is set to roll up on a regular basis.
