Perfectly positioned to be easy to get to the city centre but also on the outskirts enough that it feels like you're not in the hustle and bustle, Hammersmith is an artsy area near the riverbanks. With excellent transport links into central London and with plenty of leafy walking trails that run alongside the River Thames, Hammersmith has a balance of London's best calm and crazy parts. There are a good number of theatres and music venues in Hammersmith, including the Eventim Apollo concert hall and Lyric Theatre. If you find yourself in this slightly leafier part of London you'll have plenty to do, including spending a Saturday morning perusing the farmers market at Parliament Hill and shopping until you drop just up the road at Westfield. Hammersmith Bridge is one of London's prettiest and most famous, and is Grade II listed. Built in 1887, this bridge was designed by the same fella who designed much of London's sewage system.
