In between Watford and Luton, in the heart of Hemel Hempstead, the Green Man offers passers by a comfortable and comforting pub style restaurant to stop by.
Start your day delightfully with the brunch menu, where you’ll find a classic full English - two succulent Cumberland sausages, streaky bacon, your choice of two fried, poached, or scrambled free range eggs, two golden hash browns, baked beans, button mushrooms, half a grilled tomato and a slice of lightly toasted white bloomer bread with butter. Phew! Or, opt for an earth burger filled with tasty goodness, or a very popular smashed avocado on toast with slow-roasted tomatoes. After choosing your brunch dish, you can choose to include two drinks in a special offer, from a Prosecco or one of many spritz’, Birra Moretti or Peroni. The lunch menu is available weekdays and includes a seasonal soup of the day, southern-fried chicken goujons, Whitby scampi and almond pesto linguine.
The main menu includes plenty of tasty treats, starting off with sharing cheesy nachos, smothered with melting mozzarella and Cheddar, jalapeños, salsa, guacamole, sour cream and sweet and sour red onion. Pub favourites are spread throughout the menu, including the beef pie of the day with golden pastry, buttery chive mashed potato, glazed seasonal vegetables and a rich beef gravy, hand battered cod and chip, and a signature quinoa salad mixed with plenty of good stuff.
Don’t forget about dessert, there’s a light Eton mess sundae on the menu, with fresh strawberries, vanilla ice cream and crisp broken meringue with tangy raspberry coulis, all topped with cream. For enthusiasts of classic cocktails, the Green Man has a great menu. The list includes a fruity and refreshing Watermelon Spritz, with a glowing blend of Absolut Watermelon vodka, cranberry juice and Prosecco and Spiced Raspberry Mule packed with Chambord and ginger beer.
