You’ll discover as many craft beers and ciders as days in a year at this funky, indie Brixton bottle shop and bar. From a selection of four top-notch ales and craft brews on a beer wall’s taps, Lucky Jack (from Norwegian micro, Lervig of Stavanger) slaked our thirst on a warm afternoon, as did Danish indie To ØI’s Don’t Gose Towards the Light (a smoky tart fruited black gose beer). Each month, one of Ghost Whale’s top-shelf (aka premium and pricey) beers is showcased, sold at cost: on our visit Jardinier, a California-brewed Belgian-style beauty rarely found in the UK. Food-pairing tutorials, ‘meet the brewer’ nights and themed tasting events are part of the fun, as is the trippy sun-trap garden got up in acid brights. Enthusiastic staff will talk you through the dazzling range, steer you towards the beer best suited to your palate, and fill a takeaway growler.
