Located on Exmouth Street, Gerry’s Hot Subs is an old-school sandwich shop bringing a taste of American favourites to the streets of London. It’s named for founder Andre Blais’ dad, Gerry, and was borne out of Gerry and Andre Blais’ mutual love for a local Montreal deli, and is informed by Andre Blais’ travels across Canada and America in pursuit of the best subs, hoagies, po boys, and sandwiches. Andre is also the brains behind Bodean’s, a Kansas City-style BBQ and smokehouse, so expect plenty of rich and smokey flavours and powerful sauces.
Some of the house classic subs include the chicken buffalo with marinated chicken strips, Emmental cheese, lettuce, Gerry's Hot Sauce, blue cheese dressing and crispy onions, and the Boston butt pulled pork with house coleslaw, BBQ and Carolina sauce. For a house speciality, try the thinly sliced prime Philly cheese steak topped with grilled onions, sauteed sweet red peppers and provolone cheese, or the beef parmigiana meatballs with Gerry's house tomato sauce, provolone cheese and fresh basil leaves. Gerry's also serves up some mean hot dogs, including the Reuben with mustard, sauerkraut, pickles and cheese. There's always a monthly special, which may include a lamb option with thinly seasoned lamb shoulder, grilled onions, shredded lettuce, garlic mayo and minted yoghurt sauce.
Dessert is simple, with just one option of a chocolate brownie smothered in whipped cream. Make the experience truly American with a glass of root beer, cream or cherry soda. There is a great offering of a kids meal deal on the menu, which includes half-size subs with a portion of fries and a choice of juice. So you can take the whole family to Gerry’s Hot Subs and have a truly terrific time!
