From Funicular Productions comes the award-winning ‘Murder Express’ immersive theatre dining experience, set aboard a luxury train carriage at Pedley Street station. This exciting evening transports guests to London’s East End in the 1920s before embarking on a journey simulated by screens and special effects. During the voyage, a valuable diamond is stolen, and a string of murders soon follow where everyone is a suspect, including you. Diners must then assess their surroundings, look for clues, interact with the actors and figure out 'whodunnit' before it's too late.
Upon arrival at Pedley Street, guests can enjoy a drink at the platform bar before proceeding to the luxury train carriage where the meal and entertainment take place. Attention to detail throughout the evening is impressive, from the clues to the four-course meal designed by MasterChef finalist Louisa Ellis. Guests are seated in groups of eight within the train carriage's booths, but this can be upgraded to a VIP booth if you’d prefer to have extra privacy.
The menu changes frequently but is likely to include a palate cleanser, starter, main and dessert, all specifically curated to reflect the splendour and riches of the 1920s. Examples include a celeriac and truffle soup, followed by grilled leeks to start, slow cooked beef shin with butter potato terrine and bordelaise sauce for main course, and a silky chocolate cremeux for dessert. There is also a set menu offering vegan and halal alternatives which need to be arranged in advance.
The drinks menu features a selection of Champagne and Prosecco to complement the glamorous ambience, which can be ordered direct to your booth. There are also red, white and rose wines, craft ale and lager and themed cocktails, to ensure there’s something for everyone's tastes.
Do note that the experience is two hours long from the time the doors open.
