Rosie French and Ellie Grace started with a blog, before graduating to the self-styled Salad Club – a monthly catch-up for friends and like-minded souls. Now they have secured a permanent pitch in
the leftfield foodie environs of Brixton Village Market, although it’s little more than a three-table eatery with a few seats in the covered arcade and regular queues for takeaways. Colourful,
creative salads are the duo’s trademark, although their monthly, Med-inspired menu now takes in mezze plates and highly popular wraps (soft flatbread rolled up with butterbean and rosemary hoummos,
crunchy slaw, harissa yoghurt and additions ranging from spicy lamb merguez sausage to char-grilled haloumi). There’s generally a hot dish, too, as well as something sweet (perhaps orange-blossom
baklava). You can also BYO booze – otherwise drink Ossie’s ginger beer, mint tea or coffee.
