Foodstory is a café and community space in Edinburgh, serving everything from brunch and lunch to cake, pastries and artisan coffee. It originally opened in Aberdeen with the aim of offering guests somewhere to gather and socialise, while enjoying sustainable food and great coffee. Mission accomplished. The brand now boasts four sites in Scotland, including this one in its capital city.
With a strong sustainable ethos at its core, Foodstory is entirely vegetarian and offers a large selection of vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options. It also makes a concerted effort to never use single-use cups or containers and encourages diners to BYOC (bring your own container). You can also expect an ever-rotating roster of artisan coffee on offer, as well as dishes made from local and seasonal produce.
Foodstory Edinburgh is open from late morning until mid-afternoon, making it perfect for everything from a latte to-go to a lazy weekend brunch. The menu features an array of hot and cold options which transition seamlessly from breakfast to lunch. For example, you might choose to start your day with a brunch bowl featuring smoked bac’n, hash brown, tomatoes, salad and hot sauce, or a ‘help yourself’ porridge bowl which you can customise to your liking. Later in the day, choose from a tempting range of focaccia sandwiches, toasties, soups, sausage rolls and salads. There’s a vegan BLT focaccia featuring bac’n, lettuce, tomato and mayo, or its popular house sourdough toastie filled with green pesto, spinach, sundried tomatoes and house nacho cheese.
From an elevenses snack to afternoon tea, you’ll always find a selection of pastries and cakes to satisfy your sweet tooth. While teas, coffees, kombucha and organic juices complete the drinks list.
