About
Occupying what may be the Trafford Centre’s best restaurant site (complete with natural daylight), Five Guys is on the fringe of the shopping behemoth. But fans of the famous brown burger bag (and its contents) are happy to walk past countless other chains to reach this one, which began in 1980s Washington DC. The signature white and red graphics make a low-frills backdrop for foil-wrapped burgers, cascading fries and the refill-friendly ‘freestyle’ Coke-mixing machine, which allows customers to add flavours to their fizzies. Tender, prime house-made burgers are double as standard (singles are described as ‘little’) and come with as many free toppings as you can handle; there are also hot dogs and sandwiches including grilled cheese and BLT, which almost counts as health food in these parts. Fries are straight-up or cajun, both cooked in peanut oil. You can also order online to collect later – handy to avoid queuing.
