About
This Finsbury Square offering from Young’s Brewery ably combines all the ingredients required for a quality, modern watering hole: the large, shabby-chic space blends exposed brick and mismatching furniture, the taps offer London craft beers and weekly guest ales, and there’s Climpson & Sons coffee for bean hunters. The result is a lively, comfortable boozer for City drinkers that’s also equipped for casual business meals, thanks to adaptable dividing screens in the dining area. The kitchen produces assured British food including incredibly filling braised blade of beef, the flakey soft meat sandwiched between peppery mash and shredded red cabbage. Our deeply smoky hanger steak was great value too, and it’s also worth ordering the popular macaroni cheese Scotch egg. Service is casual but efficient, while Henry’s Den downstairs offers the prospect of intimate lounging amid thick cushions.
