Sitting just a stone's throw from Waterloo station, Fifth Element is a restaurant looking to give guests a place to connect away from the hustle and bustle of inner-city life. Born from a belief that food is the catalyst of magical moments, a group of family and friends joined forces to run this all-day restaurant and add a bit of joy to Londoner’s days, whether that's for a mid-morning brunch or an evening tipple.
The restaurant is uncomplicated with marble table tops and metal chairs, as well as an array of ornaments dotted across shelves that cover the back wall. Large windows line the room across multiple sides, allowing natural light to flood in during the day. By night, Fifth Element transforms into a date night worthy eatery, with fairy lights adorning the faux grass walls, and surrounding the floor to ceiling windows, to radiate a warm golden hue across the room.
The food menu brings all the favourites from morning through to evening. Think Oreo crêpes and Kinder Bueno waffles, as well as savoury options with chicken, ham, or sundried tomatoes. The lunch options bring plenty of variety with toasties, tacos and quesadillas with a range of fillings, as well as baguettes that offer something a little more gourmet than your usual sandwich experience. Expect beef, chimichurri and mozzarella, or avocado, grilled halloumi & salad – which are ready to add a little piquancy to your lunchtime.
If you’re after something heartier to revive you from a long a day in the office, choose from one of the 8” sourdough pizzas, or settle into an ever-comforting roast. The pork shoulder and chicken stay consistently on the menu, whilst a special Sunday lunch unsurprisingly only makes an appearance once a week, varying each time.
Of course, if it’s drinks you’re after, Fifth Element offers a range of cocktails to whet your whistle whilst catching up with friends. From classic and non-alcoholic cocktails like a mojito, through to a signature selection like ‘air force’ which uses whisky, lime sour and Disaronno.
