A simple space with white walls, plain wooden tables and big plate-glass windows looking out onto Brixton Village (formerly Granville Arcade), this neighbourhood eatery is something of a homecoming
for eponymous Etta and her band of friendly helpers. Her spicy Caribbean background shows through on the short menu, although you’ll find flavours from around the globe on the line-up of small and
large plates – think crab fritters with sweet chilli dip, seafood spaghetti, deep-fried shell-on prawns, whole steamed tilapia spiked with Scotch bonnet peppers, cod and chips etc. There’s also a
lively choice of veggie options, ranging from griddled courgettes and aubergines with coriander to a pumpkin-based vegetable curry. If you want booze, you’ll have to BYO; otherwise sip a glass of
zesty ginger beer or invigorating home-infused sorrel juice.
