This chain of modern, democratically minded public houses broke the mould when it started serving well sourced, carefully cellared draught beers alongside unfussy but remarkably good renderings of classic pub food. Draft House’s interiors are far from your standard-issue British boozer – instead, expect echoes of American-style bars in the shape of neon signs, polished wood and colour-pop turquoise stools. Signature snacks include foot-long pork scratchings and gigantic, mildly spiced Scotch eggs with runny yolks, while bigger plates run from “superb” beer-battered fish and chips to ‘poke’ burgers stacked with onion rings, chillis and cheese. As for the beers, you could be sipping well-tended pints of anything from Wicked Weed’s Tropicmost Passionfruit Gose to sour beers from Wired Brew Co or double IPAs with enough punch to floor Godzilla. Sweet, eager service and bespoke private rooms are further plus points.
