About
Campfield Arcade is a seductive spot for an Italian restaurant, especially if you can grab a table both inside and out under the glass roof of the arcade. There are twinkling lights, lots of palm fronds and absolutely no surprises on the Don Marco menu: a front-and-centre trattoria list down to the courgette fritti and tiramisu. In between, you might have seared scallops with lemon and herb risotto, or chicken, herb and saffron arancini, followed by tagliatelle with slow-cooked wild boar ragu, rustica pizza with veg and goats’ cheese, or rump of lamb with gnocchi, broad beans, peas and mint. Desserts include limoncello cheesecake, chocolate mousse with Amaretto and biscotti, or a strawberry and raspberry semifreddo. Don Marco is a real-life individual who can be seen about the place, perhaps pouring wine from a list that starts at £18.95 and sticks almost wholly to Italian bottles.
