Featuring live music, an expansive cocktail menu, and a modern interior, Dirty Martini is one of the places to go in Cardiff to unwind and let off a little steam.
The restaurant itself is decorated similarly to a nightclub, so expect a lively environment inside. Giant images of painted women adorn the walls, alongside lots of geometric patterns and gold furniture. There's space at the bar, as well as booths and tables, depending on how intimate you want your environment to be. The team also offers private bookings if you really want to reserve a space for yourself.
When it comes to food and drinks, you can order online or in-person with a waiter. The menu is (unsurprisingly) dedicated primarily to the drinks section, which offers many of the classics, as well as inventive takes on other favourites. Due to the name, there is a large selection of martinis (twelve!) - some fun options being the Blood Orange & Vanilla, made with Absolut Vanilla vodka, Briottet crème de cassis, Briottet crème de violette, and blood orange, or the Mango & Chilli with Absolut Mango vodka, Briottet liqueur de mangue, citrus, mango, and chilli. There is also conveniently a 'Happy Hour Flavour Map', which allows you to see all the drinks in degrees of fruity, sour, spirited, and sweet, to help you make your choice.
The food menu is petite, and made up of small plates, fries, sliders, and 'birdcage sharers.' These birdcage sharers include a selection of appetisers, ideally for two people, which are served in a birdcage. These birdcages come in vegetarian form or a 'dirty' version, and include treats such as the beef and cheese sliders, the crispy tomato and basil arancini, vegetable samosas, halloumi and vegetable kebabs, or tzatziki and beetroot hummus. But of course, if you're not as hungry, you can order all of these options (and more) individually off the food menu.
