Overlooking the Oval Basin in the centre of Cardiff Bay, Demiros is your quintessential Italian joint serving up unassuming classics. With expansive seating inside and out, and the potential to comfortably hold 200 people, this is a restaurant to go to feed your army of Spaghetti-lovers.
The interior of the restaurant eminates a banquet hall, with crystal lighting, mirrors, dramatic black and white table settings, and ruby-red curtains. Yet the place retains a cosy feel by the closeness of the tables and the well-lit the natural light coming in from the large windows. The waitstaff are formally dressed to match the environment, but there's no dress code at this place.
Demiros' menu is similar to any other extensive Italian menu - you'll get your calamari and your ravioli at this joint. This is definitely the place to go when you're hungry, however, as the main section is long and full of all your favourite carbs and meats. Check out the Chicken Demiros, a breast of chicken wrapped in crispy ham and stuffed with basil and mozzerella, topped with cheese sauce. Or if you'd prefer something spicy, the Spaghetti Con Pollo Inferno attempts to live up to the name with its chilli marinated chicken, peppers and onion.
Wash your meal down with one of their floater coffees - a blend of coffee, liquor, and whipped cream - such as the Parisian, made with cognac. Make sure to save room for dessert, though, because your sweet tooth is going to be more than satisfied with how heavy the items are. The Belgian Waffle is served with warm Belgian chocolate and vanilla ice cream, and the Profiteroles are choux buns filled with cream and smothered in hot Belgian chocolate. You might need a wheelbarrow to get you out of Demiros, but hey, we guess that's a plus.
