Clipper Bar is a stylish nautical-themed bar located on the first floor of the prestigious InterContinental London – The O2. Boasting 270-degree views of London’s city skyline, guests can gaze out over the River Thames and soaring skyscrapers while sipping on a selection of expertly made cocktails. While vast floor-to-ceiling windows add to the breathtaking nature of those urban vistas, ensuring every guest is privy to incredible views wherever they’re sitting.
Clipper Bar takes its name from the 19th-century ships that used to navigate the world’s major trading routes, carrying luxurious good such as gold, opium and herbal teas between the East and North West. These themes of travel and luxury are carried through the food and drink menus at Clipper Bar, from its signature cocktails to an array of small bites.
In the centre of the space lies a smart oval-shaped bar, with a small section for counter seating and with two model yachts perched decoratively on top. Widely spaced tables throughout ensure groups have a decent amount of privacy, while a mixture of stools and chairs are suited to dining and drinking for all occasions. Whether it’s after-work drinks or a special celebration, Clipper Bar is sure to inject a touch of luxury into any get-together.
The drinks list revolves around its signature cocktails and is inspired by some of the trading routes the Clipper ships navigated. The Clipper Negroni, for example, features gin, Campari and two types of vermouth, while Night on the Peninsula mixes vodka, café brandy, espresso and coconut syrup – guaranteed to leave you smiling (and awake!). Elsewhere, an assortment of Champagnes, wines, spirits, beers and ciders complete the list.
There is also a selection of sharing dishes to nibble on alongside your drinks of choice. Examples include soft shell crab tempura with mango salsa, saffron arancini with tomato dip, and halloumi fries with lemon yoghurt dressing and pomegranate molasses. You can also find sharing platters to enjoy with a friend, featuring various cheeses and charcuteries.
