Mallow, in the heart of Canary Wharf, is the second location of the brainchild behind London-based vegan powerhouse, Mildred’s. Serving up 100% plant-based delights all day, Mallow offers up a bright and relaxed atmosphere where diners can enjoy sustainably sourced, high-quality vegan dishes.
Inspired by flavours from around the globe, Mallow specifically works with local and environmentally-friendly businesses and producers to ensure a seasonal menu that has as little an impact on the planet as possible, while still serving up vibrant and quality meals. Expect to find fresh and colourful local vegetables, and handcrafted drinks. True to its namesake, Mallow (which is a native British plant that is entirely edible) strives to utilise as much of the plant as possible, guaranteeing minimal waste.
The weekend brunch menu offers dishes such as decadent black forest chocolate pancakes, with cherries, hazelnuts and vanilla cream, or indulgent crème brûlée brioche french toast, topped with pistachios and vanilla poached apricots. There is also an all-vegan full English, for those who prefer a savoury start to the day. The mains are equally innovative and exciting, with the likes of roast pepper and sweet potato laksa with a five spice tofu, or a beetroot tempeh smash burger with nori onion rings, gochujang chilli dip and kimchi. Desserts are not to be skipped either, as you may find delights such as dark chocolate passion fruit sachertorte or date molasses sticky toffee, served up with caramel, vanilla ice cream and pistachio rose praline.
Complementing the dynamic flavours is the ample selection of drinks. From dessert wines to beers, and hand-crafted cocktails that offer a fun twist on classics, such as the Pear Rosemary Margaritas or Nori Sesame Old Fashioneds, all tastes are catered for. Home-made blends and soft drinks are also available for those who prefer.
Inside this two-floored restaurant, which boasts an all-weather outdoor terrace with views of the wharf, is a modern and light space which creates a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere, whereas upstairs is a more moody and intimate dining area, for diners who want a little more luxury. Whether a businessperson on a lunch, tourists hungry after sightseeing, or local residents enjoying a weekend brunch, Mallow is a space for all to feel welcome.
