The team behind Crouch End’s MonkeyNuts and Chez Bob in Belsize Park have tapped into the capital’s insatiable appetite for ‘chooks’ with a second, buzzy and fun-loving neighbourhood eatery in Ealing (the original is in Muswell Hill). Star of the show is Suffolk farm chicken, which can be grilled or fried in buttermilk: order the ‘tray dinner’ to try both versions. Wings with blue-cheese dip or feta-stuffed mushroom ‘pops’ make a satisfying start, while sides include perfectly crispy onion rings and creamy mac ‘n’ cheese. Colourful salads and ‘subs’ complete the offer. Cheery staff deliver the food in enamel dishes – a rough-and-ready touch that chimes with the neon signs, playful graffiti and reclaimed timbers. Knock-out frozen margaritas are served in jam jars, while eco-friendly tetra-pack wines are decanted by the glass or carafe alongside English craft beers. No bookings.
