Chez Dominique is a modern French and European restaurant that is located in a pretty spot in the city of Bath, centrally found on Argyle Street. The restaurant is open from 12 until 3pm Monday through to Saturdays, and a little later until 3.30pm on Sundays. Evening service is between 5 and 9pm from Sunday to Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday nights, half an hour longer. Dogs are welcomed at lunchtime, and vegans along with those with other dietary requirements are always well catered for.
Starters include the roast parsnip, honey and sage soup, along with the chicory, pear, walnut and Roquefort salad with honey truffle oil. Other starters include the duck rillettes with Asian salad, sesame and soy dressing, and wood pigeon with celeriac remoulade, beetroot and chestnuts. For the most indulgent starter, try the sauté scallops, chorizo and saffron aioli chickpea stew.Mains are just as indulgent and delicious, and include roast butternut squash tagliatelle with sage, pine nuts and Parmigiano Reggiano, along with onglet steak with Café de Paris butter and pommes frites, and Wiltshire pork chop with greens, stewed borlotti beans and salsa verde. If you like fish, try the sea bass with mussels, saffron potatoes and a bouillabaisse sauce.
For dessert, be sure to try the chocolate and stout cake with stem ginger Chantilly cream and candied walnuts, the toasted oat panna cotta served with pear purée and candied peel biscuit, or the vanilla mascarpone with figs poached in Norfolk PX. There is also a great selection of cheeses, sorbets and ice creams to end on, if you prefer something a bit different from the sweet classics, or a palette cleanser.
