Colourful, flavourful, seasonal food awaits diners at this charming hotel restaurant in the heart of Westminster and a short stroll from St. James’s Park. Whether you drop by for a leisurely lunch, a hearty dinner or a pre/post-theatre meal, you can expect tasty food made from the freshest seasonal ingredients in warm and convivial surroundings.
Lots of restaurants claim to serve ‘locally sourced’ produce, but this one really means it. The hotel’s rooftop kitchen garden and beehives are testament to the restaurant’s commitment to super-fresh ingredients, from fruits and vegetables to herbs and honey. These naturally delicious ingredients inspire the head chef’s seasonal menus, and take centre stage in dishes such as the garden salad made with lettuces grown in the greenhouse, Josper-grilled aubergine served with sweet-and-sour raisin and pine-nut relish, tomatoes and basil, and the creamy garden vegetable risotto.
Meats and fish are sourced from further afield, but adhere to the same high standard as the ingredients sourced on-site. Beef hails from Scotland, Wales and North America, while fish comes from Cornwall and the far north-west of Scotland. All are cooked on the Josper grill and can be complemented by a variety of toppings, sides and sauces.
Desserts, meanwhile, are arranged around fresh fruit and berries in winning combinations such as lemon parfait with saffron ice cream, orange and rose, and toasted almond panna cotta served with apple sorbet, blackberry and rocket.
A separate children’s menu makes dining healthily with little ones a breeze, while the bar stocks an excellent selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails named after members of the Cambridge Five spy ring and their Soviet handlers (Stanley – AKA Kim Philby), along with all the usual beers, spirits and softs. You’ll also find wine and whisky flights that are perfect for pairing with a meal or snacks from the bar.
