With its mind-boggling selection of brews, it’s easy to see why Cask bills itself as ‘London’s permanent beer festival’. With a revolving roster of draught ales exclusively from British microbreweries such as Otley, Mighty Oak, Thornbridge, Brodies & Kernel, it’s a frothy paradise for hop-heads. There are also more than 50 bottled brews from Germany alone, plus representatives from as far afield as the USA, Denmark & Italy (note Del Borgo & Baladin) – not forgetting an unpasteurised English pilsner called Taddington Moravka on tap. Genuinely helpful bar staff are happy to provide pointers & tasters for the uninitiated, while the menu keeps bellies lined with sandwiches, platters & chunky mains like shepherd’s pie. Everyone is welcome, & there’s even room for wine drinkers, too.
