Cacio & Pepe is a restaurant that came together as a passion project from an Italian MasterChef finalist and her football star father. The homely but professional restaurant serves up truly authentic Italian cuisine, while the neat interior gives off an elegant dining feel which is simple yet chic – think white tablecloths, copper accents and contemporary light fixtures.
The father-daughter duo runs Cacio & Pepe with provenance in mind by plating up dishes teeming with Italian ingredients and Mediterranean flavours as well as pouring fine wines. Open for both lunch and dinner seven days a week, visit the restaurant in Pimlico for a light-hearted experience and home-grown recipes. The restaurant’s ambience is owed to owner, Enrica Della Martira, whose character helps to give off a cool and peppy feel.
You can dine at the tiled bar counter for a different setting and watch your cocktails come together. Dishes are either served on traditional white plates or on slate platters for a luxurious meal. Start with antipasti of charcuterie and a cheese board to share or a decadent beef carpaccio with artichoke, salad and a shaving of parmesan. Move onto a primi piatti course of traditional pasta dishes, such as the monkfish risotto with bottarga or a tomato, anchovy and caper or “alla puttanesca” sauce-based gnocchi dish which is finished with burrata cream.
Secondi piatti includes a selection of main meals including a baked sea bass served with spinach asparagus and a saffron sauce. We love the look of the tagliata-style grilled ribeye steak drizzled with a balsamic reduction, shavings of parmesan, cherry tomatoes and a smattering of rocket. End your meal with an authentic Italian dessert. The panna cotta with mango coulis and fresh slices of mango is a great choice, as well as the tiramisu della casa or the vanilla crème brûlée.
