Brasserie Blanc Cheltenham is the Gloucestershire-based branch of television chef Raymond Blanc’s French restaurant chain. The group of restaurants, which spread throughout England, offer an informal but stylish environment to dine on both French and international cuisine, from a menu dreamed up by the much-loved chef who has cooked for A-listers around the globe.
Brasserie Blanc Cheltenham is located in a beautiful Regency ballroom in the centre of the city. Unlike most of the other Brasserie Blanc’s, which conform to a signature rustic, farmhouse-style décor, Cheltenham’s interiors have been designed to celebrate the building’s original period features.
A feature bar makes for an attractive central focus, painted deep navy with silver detailing. While large archway mirrors are bolstered with jewel-toned paintwork. Seating wise, long banquettes are covered in floral upholstery and perfect for pairs, while rose-pink velvet footstools look the part.
As expected, the menu serves up some classic French cuisine such as Morteau sausage with potato salad, baked Saint-Marcellin cheese and chicken paillard – but there are plenty of other options too. For example, the Moroccan mezze platter includes harissa aubergine, falafel, vegetables and flatbreads or smoked pork belly with apple and crackling. The dessert menu has a mixture of sweet and savoury options with highlights including cherry amandine, sticky toffee pudding and a selection of French and English cheeses.
Brasserie Blanc Cheltenham is big on its wines, too, and has a dedicated section for bubbles at the top of the a la carte menu. Here you’ll find an offering from some of France’s most well-known champagne houses, in case you fancy making your meal that little bit more special.
